Meet Angelique - Our Founder
Angelique's passion to help children and their families brought her to Missouri to attend Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar. Upon graduating in 1999 (with a BA in Psychology), her intent was to pursue a degree in Neuro-Psychology, so she could help identify children's learning difficulties and provide the necessary therapy that would help them learn to overcome. However, after learning that this area of study did not include rehabilitation options to correct any identified problems, Angelique changed her pursuit to a Master's Degree in Education.
After substituting in a special education classroom, she immediately fell in love with the children and the process of their education. Angelique entered the Special Education Master's Program at Missouri State University and graduated in 2005. During her Master's studies, much of Angelique’s research focused on which methods of intervention are most effective for students who are at risk for reading failure. Angelique worked two years in the Bolivar Primary Special Education Program before teaching two years in a cross-categorical classroom in Willard, MO. Her next endeavor was as the Director of Client Services in a clinic that provided neurological therapies for children who struggled with reading. Angelique's passion is to help children and their families overcome academic struggles. This motivated her to start her own business in 2005 with a unique focus on identifying and improving each child’s greatest area of need. She takes some of the neurological therapies that she learned in the clinic setting and combines them with the research-based techniques from her special education training to provide a unique approach in helping children and families overcome real, physiological and/or neurological obstacles. Her mission is to bind up the broken hearts and to build up the broken places. |
