Interactive Metronome®
What is Interactive Metronome®?
Interactive
Metronome® (IM) is a computerized metronome that can measure motor
responses to the millisecond. IM® affects the foundations of neural processing and helps
to reorganize neural networks so that your child can process information
more effectively. It is both an assessment program and therapy
tool.

Why use it?
Many students who struggle to learn have
some type of underlying neurological problem that is holding them back.
Even with the best instructional techniques available many children
simply cannot catch up. We have seen our students gain in
many different areas such as reading comprehension, math, social skills,
auditory processing, etc. Many success stories from parents
convinced us to make IM® a part of
our
tool chest.
Who can it help?
IM® has been found to be helpful in
many areas. PGA golfers even use Interactive Metronome® to improve their game.
It is
effective in improving:
-
Autism Spectrum Disorders
-
Learning Disabilities
-
Dyslexia
-

What does the research say?
IM®
impacts the foundations of many areas of functioning by improving
cognitive timing, working memory, attention, sequencing, executive
functions, motor control, etc. In one study, students gained an
average of one and a half (1 ½) years in
math and two (2) years in reading. Interactive Metronome®
has been found to positively impact attention and impulse control, which
improves ADD/ADHD symptoms.
How often do you see each
student and for how long?
We typically administer IM®
therapy three (3) days per
week in 15 one-hour sessions. Most students are finished in about six
weeks. However, it can be repeated as many times as desired in order to
obtain different objectives. For instance, one set of sessions can
focus on
attention, the next set may work on auditory processing, visual memory or some other skill.
